  • Presence of alcohol or drugs
  • Suicidal thoughts / behaviors
  • Previous legal action
  • Intimidating behavior / threats to children
  • Previous violent episodes / abuse
  • Previous separations
  • Limited ability to make decisions or function effectively
  • Incidents of violence in either partner's family of origin
  • History of violent activity outside the home
  • Expressions of remorse for controlling or assaultive purpose

HOW VICTIM ASSISTANCE CAN HELP YOU:

  • Support group.
  • 24 hour telephone counseling and outreach services.
  • Crisis intervention.
  • Individual and family counseling.
  • Assistance in planning alternatives.
  • Court assistance and legal referral.
  • Emergency food.
  • Advocacy and escort services to prosecutor's office, court and various agencies.
  • Community education.
  • Spiritual counseling.
  • Resource library: Videotapes and printed materials.
  • TIME OUT:

- Court centered educational / therapeutic program for offenders with family violence problems.

- May be attended without court involvement.

  • Involves the assistance of other community agencies and shelters* on your behalf.
  • SUPERVISED VlSITATION - provides safe visits for children with their non-custodial parent. Operates in conjunction with Domestic Relations Court.
